A Place to Sit

A Place to Sit by Sarafina Maina captures the stillness of a lakeside moment, where sorrow meets peace. A watercolor and poem that invites you to pause, reflect, and find calm.

A Place to Sit

By the lakeside,
I sit and stare.
At sunset in sorrow,
Sobbing, not a song.
Yet, on this bench, I sit.

I thought I had a plan,
More than a mere yarn,
To fill the pan and live in fun.
Yet, on this bench, I sit.

What about the stolen dreams?
Not about to sing the broken hymns.
I see the beams and feel the screams,
And on this bench, I sit in peace.

In all the struggles, in all the worries,
I choose to sit, not on sand.
My mind to calm, my soul to numb,
For I found me, a place to sit.

A place of calm to feel free,
By the lakeside, I sit in peace.
